biography

Bobby Martínez, saxophonist, composer and Big Band director.

Throughout his extensive musical career, Bobby has shared stages all over the globe with artist like Paquito D’Rivera, Paco de Lucia, Bill Watrous, Pat Matheny, Richie Cole, Tony Lakatos, Kirk Macdonalds, Rosario Giuliani, Jaco Pastorius, Julio Iglesias, Perico Sambeat, Joe Williams among many others.

Born in Philadelphia, Penn to Cuban exiles to USA. Began studies at age 6 and at 15 entered jazz education with John Georgina in Miami Dade Community College. During this time, worked with name artist such as Miami Sound Machine, Secret Society, The Wave, Willy Chirino and many others both in jazz and pop music.After 5 years with John Georgina at MDCC, flew to NY to continue studies with Eddie Daniels.

In 1998, moved to Madrid, Spain, teaching and making music with all kind of artist like, Miguel Rios, Paco de Lucia and many others.

Carlos Rossi

Trumpet player, composer and arranger. Graduated in Musikene in 2009, he has developed his career in the big-band scene in Madrid: Bob Sands Big Band, Jerry Gonzalez Big Band, Afrodisian Big Band, Tomas Merlo Big-Band, etc. Also in reduced format: La Calle Caliente, Les Chevalliers de Jazz, Colectivo Hard-Bop, Sebastian Chames Quintet. He has played in projects with Gary Smulyan, Miguel Blanco, Antonio Serrano, Rick Margitza, Norman Hogue, Javier Colina, Ariel Bringuez, Maikel Vistel, Esteve Pi, Daniel Garcia Bruno, Tomas Merlo, Deborah Carter. He currently teaches trumpet, improvisation and harmony at the Centro Superior Música Creativa in Madrid.

Nacho Fernández

Trained at the High Music School Conservatory of the Vasque Country (Musikene) specialising in Jazz Guitar, and at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Holland and New York where he obtained his master's degree. During his formative years he has had the opportunity to study with guitarists such as Joaquín Chacón, Jose Luis Gámez, Jonathan Kreisberg, Gilad Hekselman, Lage Lund, Ben Monder, Peter Bernstein, Dan Rochlis, Miles Okazaki, Mike Moreno, Paul Bollenback, Frank Wingold, Steve Cardenas, Pasquale Grasso and Nir Felder. He is currently a member of numerous musical projects within the contemporary jazz music scene and continues to refine his artistic ability by contributing a unique harmonic sense, a fluid voice as a soloist and a distinctive sound in different musical styles.

Iñigo Ruiz de Gordejuela

Pianist graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in Jazz Performance and Theory of Jazz, in 2016 he received a scholarship from the New England Conservatory to pursue his master's studies. During his years in the US, he has shared the stage with Guillermo Klein, Donny McCaslin, Miguel Zenon, Dave Holland, Ran Blake, Darcy James Argue and Carmen Lundy. As a leader and composer, the projects stand out: Amalur, formed in 2014 at Berklee with which he recorded his debut album; Urjauzia, winner of the Best BBK JAZZ Album Award published in 2017; Surrogate Activities Nonet, recorded in Boston in 2020; and Move, who released his self-titled album in 2022. As a sideman, given his versatility and capabilities, he participates in projects with Ariel Bringuez, Reinier Elizarde "Negrón", Veronica Ferreiro, Rafael Lechowski, Javier Moreno, Elif Sanchez, Helen de la Rosa , Sean Clapis, Pepa Niebla, Rachel Therrien, Malwina Masternak, Bobby Martinez, Lian Harmon, among others, playing at numerous festivals and venues.

Dario Guibert

Begins his studies at the Proffesional Music Conservatory in Madrid where he graduates in classical double bass. In 2014 he obtains the superior degree at the bachelor degree at the High Music School Conservatory of the Vasque Country (Musikene) in the speciality of double bass jazz performance. Subsequently he began to study the "New York Jazz Master" in jazz performance and research at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen (Holland), as part of the programme, he moved to New York for five months where he received classes from great figures of the international jazz scene such as Ari Hoening, Jonathan Kreisberg, Omer Avital, Jorge Roeder, Mike Moreno and Rufus Reid, among many others. He currently lives in Madrid where his musicality and technical skills on the instrument keep him busy as a leader and sideman in different projects.

César de Frías

Studied drums in 2008 with Carlos Carli. In 2011 he joined Musikene to broaden his training with teachers such as Jo Krause, Guillermo McGuill and Bob Sands. In 2015 he returned to Madrid, where he combines his teaching work at La Escuela de Canal with his participation in various projects, such as Pedro Iturralde's quartet, or the Skytrain quartet led by Joaquín Chacón and Mariano Díaz. Independently, he has shared the stage with musicians such as Jorge Pardo, Víctor Merlo and Gabriel Chakarji, among others. Among his current collaborations, his participation in the new quintet of Bobby Martínez stands out.
